The Toric IOL Axis Marker app is made for Ophthalmic Surgeons who use Toric IOL in patients with corneal astigmatism after cataract surgery. Corneal astigmatism is caused by different curvatures in the cornea and is measured when the patient is sitting. However, cataract surgery is done with the patient lying down, which can cause the eye to rotate (cyclotorsion). This app allows surgeons to mark the axis of astigmatism on the cornea without using a pen. By taking a photograph of the cornea and marking visible blood vessels, the image is stored and referred to during the surgery in the lying down position. This helps the surgeon achieve perfect optics for the patient.
